Trencher CID is up!

So the trencher CID just went live and holy crap there's a lot to digest there.  From a quick read through the new stuff is:

  • Revised Triumph
  • Siege2
  • Blockhouse
  • Patrol Dog
  • Commando UA
  • Trencher Long Gunners
  • Commander Ansom Hitch (brings battle plans for trenchers)
  • Trencher Lieutenant ( Foc 4 Journeyman warcaster with fire group and rift)
  • Trencher Mechaniks
  • Trencher Express Team (weapon crew with pow 14 thunderbolt shot)
  • Trencher theme force
    • can take 1 non character merc with jonas
    • Free solo for ever 20pts of units or structures
    • +1 to starting role 
    • Trencher models gain rise (same ability as the bane warriors)

Stand out things for me:

  • The patrol dog only being 2pts and removes stealth from models within 8" of it and its a solo ... HUGE for cygnar in general
  • Commando UA giving prey to the unit for a turn.  +2/+2 is always nice.
  • Siege 2 with his feat and leap threats 15" with fury up does 5 pow 18 with auto knockdown attacks 
  • Siege 2 can give hammer dwarves or Nyss under murdoch +5" of movement between desperate pace and his feat.  Combine with fury for 14" P+S14 weapon master attacks (dwarves) or 16" P+S 12 weapon master assaults with the nyss (ranged attack would have a threat range of 27" and ignore cover and concealment)
  • Siege2's turret is awesome.
  • Ansom's battle plans are kick ass.
  • This is a theme that will allow you to take Gibbs with Stryker2 for hot meal
  • Rise on a list that will have tough on every single model!
  • Triumph is finally worth his points! (CID pending)
  • Lieutenant with 2 grenadiers and unit of mechaniks will definitely be a thing

The Bad

  • Long gunners are still long gunners ... meh
  • Weapon crews all remain meh

Well bad time to be out of Cygnar but I'm sticking it out with protectorate for a bit.  Trenchers do look really cool though ...

I've always liked the look of trenchers - it's a really unique aesthetic in a fantasy game.

I look at it and go "I really hope the CiD tones this down".  It seems like a lot of synergy, to the point where you better know what all the trencher stuff does as an opponent because there is going to be interaction upon interaction laid on them.  I hope the CiD does it's job and is able to balance all of these themes in the future. 

The only thing I am not sure on right now is how if you take the bunker you can place 3 trenches.

This would be the only cygnar army I would start. Even without all of the crazy. Patrol dogs are the shit... I hope the model is nice (and not fucking huge). Good dogs are hard to come by

This is the concept art with the circle representing a small 25mm base so you can infer how big its going to be.

 

Also NBD what are you seeing in the trencher models that's so much more complicated than anything else in WMH?

Isn't the patrol dog a weapon attachment? Hmm well I think it's kinda crazy that they now get dodge (dog), plus the stuff from the officer and sniper, plus the battle plan from Anson Hitch, and desperate pace from Siege.  Maybe its not more than every other faction in the game, at least at the upper end of the scale for most lists on a specific model type.  Really for me its the ability to place trenches with the Bunker and the dog giving dodge for 2 points that I want to see tested at least.

@Taylor That is the only kit of dogs that I like. There are a couple of individuals here and there though (one dog in makifaux). It's the size... There are nice sculpts, but they are all the size of horses when standing next to human models. 

One of my favorites is the dog Tim had sculpted to look like his dog.

I don't see any picture, it just has "null" in a box. Are you able to see it? Or was the link broken?
